This documentation covers the Graphic Viewer program. Graphic Viewer is program provides basic image viewing and editing capabilities. It is not intended to compete with programs such as Adobe's Photoshop or even Lemke Software's Graphic Converter for the Macintosh. It, however, does provide capabilities similar to the latter for the Windows environment.
Graphic Viewer is provided as free software under the GNU Public License. The program is written in RealBasic. Both the binary RealBasic project file and an XML dump - which includes full source - are provided as part of the distribution. RealBasic can be obtained from the Real Software site.
Installation: just copy the
file somewhere convenient and run it. No other files are required (but see below). On Macintosh systems, be sure to use the Finder (or equvalent tool) for the copying.
The web-colors.txt file: This file supplies color names for the main web colors. If this file is not available, the web color name is not shown in the Color panel. You may add your own names to this file.
Note: This program assumes that you have Apple's QuickTime installed. It is available from Apple Computer. Without QuickTime, only very basic image formats are supported.
For copying to the clipboard, you should use the keyboard command: otherwise, you'll just sample the menu.
Similarly, for printing, use the keyboard command and the Enter key and make sure that the printer dialog box is not covering the part of the screen that you want to sample. Realistically, you may want to copy to the clipboard and print from there.
On Windows, you alwaysneed to use the keyboard command to print as the menu bar window has nothing useful to print.
